PDPW Unveils February Programming Schedule
DAIRY NEWS – February 2017 is power-packed with educational events and programs brought to the dairy industry by the Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW). The month will kick off with the PDPW Dairy H.R. Workshop and will continue with the World Class Webinars Series, Dairy’s Visible Voice® and the ACE Education Seminar.  
The specific dates and details for these events are as follows:

Dairy H.R. Workshop “Developing a Team of Eagles”, in addition to the Jan. 31 training in Oshkosh, Wis. join Wed., Feb. 1 in Eau Claire, Wis. or Friday, Feb. 3 in Orange City, Iowa from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Trevina Broussard with Humetrics and Peggy Morrow & Associates is set to lead a highly interactive training that will help dairymen identify the right employees, develop those employees and implement training and planning procedures for their dairy. Attendees will learn how to recruit the best and hire right, develop a team of eagles, and engage, retain and grow their current team. Attendees will receive exclusive access to a producer panel, of which fellow dairy farmers will share their challenges and successes in hiring and retaining employees.
World Class Webinars: “Do You Cross, Tunnel or Something Else? Mechanical Ventilation Options for Cow Barns”, Wed., Feb. 15, from noon to 1:00 p.m. During this second webinar of the two-part series, “Breathe Easy with Ventilation”, the respected Dr. Nigel Cook from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine will analyze the pros and cons of different mechanical ventilation systems, with specific emphasis on cross and tunnel ventilation. He will use an economic model to highlight the differences between the two systems and those in attendance will glean first-hand knowledge to make the most economic choices and maximize cow comfort.
Dairy’s Visible Voice, Effective Leadership, Thur., Feb. 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Baraboo, Wis. This training, exclusive to dairy farmers, is devoted to developing the communication skills needed for effective leadership on the dairy. Led by Renea Heinrich, a counselor at MorganMyers, the group will discuss effective communication principles, hearing versus listening, conflict management, the effect of trigger words and motivators, and more. Returning to the farm, attendees will have the leadership skill to be a more successful manager through improved team communications.
ACE Education Seminar, Tues., Feb. 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells, Wis. This collaborative meeting is designed for dairy farmers, community leaders, local elected officials, conservation officials and other livestock producers. Wisconsin DATCP Secretary Ben Brancel will open the meeting with an industry update. Attendees will learn of the latest updates on consumers trust and transparency concerns, broadband access in rural communities, business transition, and a panel on Wisconsin Water concerns, specifically addressing high capacity wells and beyond. This meeting is part of the Agriculture Community Engagement® (ACE) partnership, a joint effort of the Wisconsin Towns Association, the Wisconsin Counties Association and PDPW.
